The brand new Ground Control Cables are now available! 

The technical changes between the previous Ground Control cable and the new cable are:

• The new cable uses a conductor that is manufactured entirely to our specification in one location. Previously, we processed metal in several stages using a variety of small UK manufacturers.
• The purity and level of oxygen of the conductor material is significantly improved over what we used in our previous Ground Control cables.
• The new conductor goes through a substantially different annealing process.
• The new conductor is 35% larger in diameter.
• We are still using a black cotton outer braid on the cable, but it is heavier and of a larger diameter.
• The new cable is now 1.5 meters long – about 8 cm longer than the previous.
• All 4mm banana connectors that plug into the Ground Controls have a gray heat shrink while the opposite end has remained black.
• All connectors besides the spade are the same as the previous cable.
• We now offer an HDMI connector.

These are the technical differences, which may or may not be of interest you! 

What we believe that really matters is how do these differences affect the performance of the Ground Controls. 

If you have followed CAD over the past 15 years you will know that we do not offer changes or upgrades very often.  We only offer this when we feel a significant upgrade is made.

Firstly, the new cable is physically a bit more solid and robust, which we hope will make them easier to use over the long term.

In our opinion, the new Ground Control cables allows the Ground Control to operate more efficiently – so you will hear the impact of attaching it faster.

In our listening tests, the new cable allows the Ground Controls to attenuate high frequency noise more than the previous cable and so the impact the Ground Controls have on sound quality has been improved.  In our opinion the following areas are enhanced:

• Definition of lower frequencies
• Pace, Rhythm & Timing (PRAT), attack and decay
• Naturalness of instruments and voice
• Sound stage is wider and deeper
• Music is more realistic and satisfying
